Also known as TSA or Trypticase Soy Agar, Tryptic Soy Agar is used for the isolation and cultivation of fastidious and nonfastidious microorganisms. This medium can be used for a wide variety of purposes including maintenance of stock cultures, plate counts and microorganism isolation of a range of specimens. It is also used for testing bacterial contaminants in cosmetics. The addition of blood can be used for the visualization of hemolytic reactions produced by various bacterial species. The addition of Tween 80 (Polysorbate 80) and/or Lecithin, is used for environmental monitoring as they inactivate disinfectant residue. Whether you need a general-purpose, nonselective media or you need added blood to facilitate a more fasitdious bacterial lawn for the detection of hemolytic reactions, we have several products to choose from. Some media are temperature sensitive and may have specific temperature and storage requirements for shipping/delivery.

Tryptic Soy Agar with Lecithin and Tween80 (TSA w/LT) is a non-selective and non-differential medium utilized for the detection and enumeration of microorganisms present on surfaces and in areas of sanitary importance. Prepared plates are utilized for environmental monitoring within biologically controlled environments. These plates are suitable for active and passive air sampling (settle/settling plates) as well as for personnel monitoring of fingertips (Finger Dabs). Lecithin is utilized to neutralize quaternary ammonium compounds. Middlebrook 7H11 Selective Agar is a selective and non-differential culture media, which was formulated in 1972 in order to recover mycobacteria from specimens containing mixed flora. Lactobacilli MRS (LMRS) Agar is a selective and non-differential medium used for the isolation, enumeration, and cultivation of Lactobacillus spp. and Leuconostoc spp.. Originally developed in 1960 by de Man, Rogosa & Sharpe, the medium is suitable for most lactic acid bacteria and is intended as a substitute for Tomato Juice Agar. Selectivity against Streptococci and Fungi is provided by ammonium citrate and sodium acetate. Tryptic Soy Agar with 0.03% Congo Red (TSA w/CR) is a non-selective, differential medium used for the cultivation of a wide variety of non-fastidious microorganisms. Congo red is utilized to stain the cells of fungi and the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. Additionally, studies have indicated virulent Shigella flexneri serotype 2a, grown in the presence of congo red at 37°C, showed increased levels of three proteins with MRS of 43K, 58K, and 63K proteins) in the Sarkosyl-soluble membrane fractions.
